Chuck Choi has been offering great souvenirs on Maui for 27 years through his Maui Resortwear and Maui Logowear stores in Lahaina. Now, he’s starting his own brand.
“I opened ‘Maui Nalu, Hawaii’ in Queen Kaahumanu Center in September of last year to be the spring board for our new, Maui Nalu brand of high quality aloha shirts, T-shirts and board shorts,” he says.
In addition to bringing the Maui Nalu brand to life, the store offers quality Hawaiian lifestyle merchandise that appeals to visitors and locals alike. “We carry Reyn Spooner and Tori Richard as well and a fabulous selection of women’s and children’s wear.”
Building his own clothing brand is a next logical step for the native New Yorker. “So far we have the logo and we’re working on several Aloha and T-shirts designs,” he says.
Choi is an avid windsurfer who moved to Maui from Long Island “because I wanted to be someplace where I could be in the water twelve months a year- without a wetsuit! Now I’m launching a clothing brand that I, and all my windsurfing friends, will feel great wearing when they’re not in the water!”
