Honolulu Museum of Art is offering Free admission for Hawai’i residents every third Sunday of the month. Family Sundays are sponsored by Bank of Hawaii and the museum volunteers and staff provide family activities are from 10am – 2pm with multiple hands on projects that vary depending on the theme for the month. Activities range from music on the lawn, family-friendly films in the theatre, arts and crafts and galleries are open to enjoy and roam throughout the museum.
This month’s theme is “No Ordinary Love” where kids can cut and arrange pieces of paper to create a portrait of a loved one! With the holiday season upon us, this handmade paper portrait will become priceless treasured gift. Visit Gallery 4 to see more inspirational an array of portraits for inspiration.
Food is available to purchase at HoMA Café + Coffee Bar which has a variety of soups, salads, pasta and sandwiches for everyone to enjoy. The café is open Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The Pasta with butter and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese is a kid friendly choice!
Parking is free on Beretania, King and Kinau, and Victoria streets around the museum. If you rather be in a parking lot (1035 Kinau Street) behind Honolulu Museum Art School for a small fee. You can enter the parking lot from Beretania or Young Streets and bring cash to pay the parking attendant.
