Strapped for time on Maui and not sure where to start? Not to worry! The Valley Isle adventures begin from the moment you land at Kahului Airport and continue throughout the day as you enjoy eating, sightseeing, and exploring!

Sample “World Famous Pancakes” at Tasty Crust
Kick-start your voyage by driving into Wailuku town and stopping for the beloved, “world famous pancakes” at Tasty Crust! This classic diner is a hit with visitors and locals alike, cooking up iconic breakfast favorites like Loco Moco, Fried Rice, and Opakapaka and Eggs. Slide into a classic diner booth or opt for a seat at the counter as you peruse the menu and make your selections, but don’t leave without sampling Tasty Crust’s award-winning pancakes! Whether you embrace the popular Banana Hotcakes or stick with the classic regular order, you’ll fall head over heels for these fluffy flapjacks with an iconic “tasty crust!”

Maui One Day 2Explore the majestic ʻIao Valley State Park
Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, climb back into your car and enjoy a brief but scenic drive to ʻIao Valley State Park, where you’ll find yourself immersed in lush valleys and majestic mountain peaks. ʻIao Valley is the perfect place to stop if you’re looking for adventures in the great outdoors, offering everything from extensive, challenging hikes to easy and relaxing footpaths. Throughout the valley, you’ll be greeted by not only breathtaking views, but also sites with immense historical and spiritual significance. With ʻIao regarded as an aliʻi burial ground, the valley also served as the grounds for the Battle of Kepaniwai, undertaken by King Kamehameha in his efforts to unite the Hawaiian Islands. You also can’t miss the ʻIao Needle, a jutting green peak that rises over 1,200 feet high from the base of the valley. PC: HTA / Tor Johnson.

Maui One Day 3Dive into adventure at Hoʻokipa Beach Park
After a morning of exploring the wonders of ʻIao Valley, head over to Pāʻia to experience the mecca of windsurfing at Hoʻokipa Beach Park. This world-famous destination is known for hosting some of the most impressive windsurfing competitions, uniting professionals and amateurs alike in the shared love of this thrilling sport. Though windsurfing is certainly the main attraction at Hoʻokipa, you can also enjoy swimming, board surfing, and strolling along the sand. For the best ocean views, head up to the Hoʻokipa Lookout, where you can sit back, relax and spot windsurfers as they careen through the waves. PC: HTA / Tor Johnson.

Take a “minit” to experience Minute Stop
Now off to Hāna! But before you gear up for a long yet worthwhile drive, fill up your gas tank—and your stomach—and take a “minit” to check out Minit Stop. This popular, locally- owned gas station is much more than meets the eye, as it serves up some of the best snacks on the island. Offering a variety of comfort food entrees and fresh deli products, Minit Stop is most famous for its mouthwatering Maui fried chicken and potato wedges! You won’t believe your taste buds when you bite into the crunchy skin and steaming, tasty fries— Minit Stop snacks truly can’t be beat!

Maui One Day 4Slow your roll with a memorable Road to Hāna adventure
After fueling up your car (and stomachs) for the long journey ahead, now is the time to roll down your windows and embark upon the unforgettable Road to Hāna adventure! This gorgeous, windy drive along the Hāna Highway is a must, featuring some of the most stunning views Maui has to offer! Be prepared to spend a good three hours or so driving through brusque turns and one-lane bridges as you pass beautiful waterfalls, blowholes, and other scenic gems unique to the Valley Isle. There is so much to see when driving the Road to Hāna, whether you’re planning some time in historic Hāna Town, stopping to snap photos of the breathtaking Wailua Falls, or simply going along for the ride. Don’t let the mileage and sharp, hairpin turns scare you off—the journey is just as enjoyable as the destination. PC: HTA / Tor Johnson.

Indulge in gourmet dining at Mama’s Fish House
As the day comes to an end, make your way back to Pāʻia for a gourmet dinner at Mama’s Fish House. Dine out on delectable seafood dishes enriched with unique, Hawaiian flavors like freshly caught Mahimahi, Papio and Ono. Meat-lovers, rest easy—the world famous restaurant also offers a variety of beef and venison entrees paired with traditional Hawaiian sides like fresh Poi and Octopus Lūʻau. Don’t leave this jazzy joint without sipping on their famous Aunty Karen’s Lemonade or sampling a decadent, tropical dessert like Lilikoi Crème Brûlée or the Maui Banana Macadamia Nut Crisp.

From lush, abundant landscapes to enticing culinary experiences with distinct Hawaiian touches, Maui is rich with culture, adventure and cuisine. Though the island certainly merits more than a 24-hour visit, this sweeping itinerary is definitely a great place to start. And remember—you can always make another special trip for the truly endless possibilities that await!
