Malama Aina Series at Keoki's Paradise

Keoki’s Paradise is bringing sustainable education to Kauai’s south shore with the launch of Malama Aina, a monthly presentation series designed to promote awareness of timely environmental issues. The first series kicks off on Friday, January 31, 2020 and continues through the month of April. 

“Keoki’s Paradise boasts a long history of spearheading environmentally conscious practices, from sustainable fishing to the use of recyclable food packaging materials,” said Dylan Ching, T S Restaurants vice president of operations, Oahu and Kauai. “We’re proud to continue this longstanding tradition by hosting enlightening and educational presentations for visitors and kamaaina alike.” 

The Malama Aina series is presented in partnership with local, state and federal organizations and agencies including the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The presentations will take place once a month at 10:30 a.m. The schedule is as follows:

  • January 31, 2020: Allen Tom, regional superintendent of the Hawaii Island Humpback Whale Sanctuary 
  • February, 21, 2020: Dr. Heather Ylitalo-Ward, PhD, DLNR DAR Kauai
  • March 27, 2020: Angela Amlin, NOAA Monk Seal Recovery Team
  • April, date TBD: Dr. Nina Ronsted, director of science and conservation at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens
