The longest-running Aloha Festivals’ ‘ohana event returns with the live music and other entertainment – by and for Hawaii’s youth – that have made it an annual Pearlridge Center favorite for the past 15 years. Participating entertainers include the students of Terry Brown Ukulele, Na Keiki O Christ Assembly Hawaii, ukulele master Herb Ohta, Jr. and Halau Hula Olana. As an Aloha Festivals’ signature event, hands-on crafts, educational demonstrations and musical performances will celebrate Hawaiian culture, as well as the diverse traditions of our island home.Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wai Makai Center Court.
As part of the longtimeKeiki Ho‘olaule‘a, Pearlridge Center also hosts the Aloha Festivals’ Keiki Conch Shell Blowing Contest to further appreciation of this art form. Winners from two keiki age categories will have the honor of blowing the pū (conch shell) in the 2019 Aloha Festivals Floral Parade and will receive the grand prize of a beautiful conch shell of their own.Advance registration for the competition is required by Sept. 1.
