The people of Maui weave a colorful tapestry of ethnic cultures through centuries of history. There are museums featuring this cultural heritage and different eras of Maui’s history throughout the island. Not only do museums provide an interesting way to learn about the history and culture of a place, but they also offer gift shops with one-of-a-kind crafts, art, books and media for you to discover something special.

Bailey House Museum is a 19th century mission house that was first used as the Wailuku Female Seminary for Hawaiian girls, then home of missionary teacher Edward Bailey and his family until 1888. The spacious museum store features a nice selection of books and Hawaiian music CDs, islandmade houseware, apparel, accessories, soaps, lotions and candles, sea salts and coffees.
