The Honolulu Museum of Art is one of the world’s premier art museums featuring international-caliber special exhibitions, and a permanent collection that includes Hokusai, van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Picasso and Warhol along with traditional Asian and Hawaiian art. Two cafés, shops and gardens are on site, as well as guided tours, films, live performances and Bank of Hawaii Family Sundays every third Sunday of the month. Must-sees include the exotic Shangri La, the former home of American heiress and philanthropist Doris Duke that was built in 1937.
