So if you’re looking for someplace new to explore on your next trip to Kauai, check out the Kilohana Plantation!

History of the Kilohana Plantation

The very first owner of these estates was a man named Albert Spencer Wilcox, an original Mormon missionary. He first developed it as a working cattle ranch to supplement the booming agricultural industry on Kauai at the time.

Later on, in 1936 Albert’s nephew, Gaylord Parke Wilcox took over the ranch and built Kauai’s very first mansion. The house was designed by a famous British architect and was surprisingly modern for the time it was built.

Today, the 16,000-square-foot Kauai house has been meticulously restored to its 1930s elegance and charm with specialty stores, art galleries, and Gaylord’s restaurant with a great atmosphere.

The rooms have been restored to their original state, with half of the original furniture present. The gardens and orchards were replanted to stay with the original plans.

Kilohana is located in the middle of 35 acres of pasture, cultivated grounds, gardens, and natural growth.
