Where can you find a Hawaiian Goose (nene), a Nigerian Dwarf Goat or the saucer-eyed Two-Toed Sloth? At the 12-acre Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens! Home to more than 80 animal species, the zoo also offers the kid-friendly The Barn Petting Zoo, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturdays, tiger feedings at 3:30 p.m. daily, and a butterfly house. A gift shop is also on the premises. The zoo is the only natural tropical rainforest zoo in the United States, which makes for a relaxing outing with its winding paths that take you past native and non-native flora. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
