A serene spot, this Place of Refuge offers opportunities to learn about and appreciate the depth of Hawaiian history and culture. Leisurely walk the grounds for a self-guided tour that take you past Hawaiian temples and other structures. You might encounter an endangered honu (green sea turtle) in the shallow waters of Keoneele (royal cove) or resting onshore. Make it a learning experience with your keiki (children) by identifying the native flora and its benefits. Or simply enjoy the experience by exploring the tidepools and taking in a vivid sunset. Admission: $5 per vehicle (good for seven days).
