Home to big wave surf, Sunset Beach Park is one of the most popular surf destinations in the world. The two-mile stretch spans from ʻEhukai Beach (Banzai Pipeline) to Sunset Point on the North Shore of Oʻahu and boasts huge swells up to 30 feet, particularly in the winter. Because of its ideal surfing conditions, Sunset Beach is home to multiple surf competitions including the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and the HIC Pro. Avoid tackling these massive waves unless you’re an experienced surfer, as winter season surf can be incredibly dangerous for those who are inexperienced!

In addition to its breathtaking surf, the beauty of Sunset Beach Park is right there in its name—the sunsets here are incredible! These dramatic Haleʻiwa sunsets are truly beautiful, so remember to bring your camera!

Though swimming is decent during the summer, beachgoers should pay close attention to the warning flags posted by lifeguards. When the waves are flat, Sunset Beach is also a great place for some shallow water snorkeling.

Of course, you don’t want to leave Sunset Beach without stopping at the iconic Ted’s Bakery! Situated just across from the beach, Ted’s Bakery is a local staple offering “a slice of heaven” with its famous cream pies as well as plate lunch style fare.
