Honolulu Zoo

There's nothing better than a family day at the zoo! Established in 1877, the Honolulu Zoo is a refuge for endemic, indigenous and endangered species, housing an array of amphibians, birds, mammals and reptiles. The zoo is currently organized into the three separate zones of Tropical Rainforests, Pacific Islands and the African Savanna.

With the mission to inspire stewardship of our living world by providing meaningful experiences for guests, Honolulu Zoo focuses primarily on Pacific tropical island ecosystems while pursuing its traditional values of mālama (caring) and hoʻokipa (hospitality). Browse through the over 42 acres of land at the edge of Waikīkī while you enjoy sights of Angonoka Tortoise, African Serval, Sumatran Tiger, Black Rhinoceros and much more!

In addition to the animal enclosures, the Honolulu Zoo also features a beautiful botanical garden, home to a wide range of indigenous plants and flowers. There’s also a fun keiki (kids) Petting Zoo, complete with a playground area, tunnel aquarium and a bunch of friendly creatures just waiting to be pet!

Honolulu Zoo is open daily, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. General admission is $14 for adults (13+) and $6 for children (3-12). 24-hour visitor info is available, as are U.S. military and resident discounts.
