The Evolution of This Week Hawaii
60 Years of Connecting Travelers to Hawai‘i’s Culture, Communities, and Experiences
Since its founding in 1966, This Week Hawaii—produced by This Week Publications, part of the Hagadone Media Group—has grown into Hawai‘i’s most widely read visitor magazine, helping travelers make the most of their island experiences.
This Week quickly became an essential guide for travelers looking for up-to-date recommendations on dining, activities, shopping, cultural events plus practical information for navigating Hawaii’s rich cultural offerings. Over the decades, This Week also expanded into four separate editions- one focusing on each of the “main” Hawaiian islands- Oahu, Maui, Big Island and Kauai.
Keeping with the digital age, www.thisweekhawaii.com was launched in 2005 that offer travelers travel tips, up to date and integrated event calendars plus robust business listings organized by category to help plan the perfect trip. For advertisers, this means expanded visibility and trackability through traffic and QR codes.
Each year, we invite aspiring models who embody the Aloha Spirit to submit materials for consideration to be on the cover of the magazines. The cover images are known for reflecting Hawaii’s unique culture and personality with a local flare and personality all shot in stunning locales. One of the classic cover shots was a young Jason Momoa- proving we accept male models as well!
As This Week Publications celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, we reflect on our history and look forward to continuing to serve as a vital resource to visitors for many years to come. We are proud of our evolution and the multitude of ways that our offerings to local businesses have tied-in with technology. We will continue to provide an integral print publication, boasting the largest readership and distribution across the state, for decades to come.
